With Love from Korea

Hola peeps! This post will be slightly different because I won't be the one writing it! *gasps* haha... I wonder if you guys are still curious about my adventure in Korea? You should be, and in coherence to the korea theme, My bloggy friend, Maddie from Head High Heart Strong is here to show you even more about Korea! Haha~

This post, quite honestly, makes me miss Korea again even if I just went there like a month ago? lol... anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy the read! So go ahead!

Hello! My name's Maddie and I write about my life and the cute things I find, over on my blog Head High Heart Strong. I'm currently lucky enough to live and work in one of Tiara's favourite places, South Korea. Sadly though, she wasn't able to squeeze me into her busy schedule when she was here, so we didn't get a chance to meet up. One of my favourite things about Korea is the fact that everything is so cute. Tiara hasn't yet shared with us what treats she bought from Korea, but today I'm going to share the cutest gifts to send and receive from the ROK.

 

♥ 1.Snacks 

How can just a normal treat be so cute and tasty? I love these Lotte pig ice creams in the Summer time. They're chocolatey and sweet on the inside and cool you down in the hot weather. But the number one Korean snack has to be Pepero. These are long, thin sticks of biscuit coated in chocolate and other tasty things. These snacks are so popular, they have their own dedicated day, the 11th of November. On Pepero Day it's custom to buy your loved ones a box of these. 

 

♥ 2. Socks

Until I came to Korea, I never wore socks, in fact I hated wearing socks. In England they're usually ugly and don't suit the shoes I wear, but in Korea I look for excuses to show off my socks! They have socks in every colour you can imagine, with every character you can imagine. Last year I sent my little sister some PSY socks for Christmas and she said that they were her favourite gift! And what's even better is that you can buy these cute socks from ₩1,000 a pair. 

 

 

♥ 3. Stationary 

What is it about girls and stationary? I remember when I was at school, my favourite time of year was the new term. It was an excuse to go out and buy new stationary. Cute pencil cases, novelty pencils and coloured pens were my favourite. Now, in Korea, I'm in my teenage paradise. There's no such thing as a dull pencil case. My favourite things are the yearly planners, at the moment I have a Sonny Angel Doll one. I also like the Jetoy cat brand, and ARTBOX! I am slightly obsessed with ARTBOX. So much so that the staff know me by name. I know that Tiara loves it too! It's a great place to satisfy your cute cravings.

 

♥ 4. Poop 

Koreans are a little obsessed with all things toilet related, and who wouldn't be when they make it seem so cute?! I've seen pink chocolate poop lollipops, poop shaped bread, poop pencils and my favourite was the DIY poop shaped phone dongle kit I came across in a stationary shop. Poop brings out the child in all of us, so why not buy your friend one of these gifts to put a smile on their faces?

 

♥ 5. Make Up 

If you have ever been on my blog, you will notice that I'm smitten with Etude House. In an ideal world, I would decorate my room at home based on an Etude House store. Princess pink and white mirrors makes it feel like I'm in Cinderella's dressing room rather than a shop. I love the packaging for their products too. Some of my favourite products are their ice-cream shaped nail polishes and their lip glosses. 

Not to mention all of the other shops available, like Skin Food, The Face Shop and Tony Moly. My make up bag has never been so full of amazing products. The novelty and low prices of the products make them irresistible. 

I now love buying gifts for people, because it's so easy! I wonder if Tiara bought herself anything cute while she was in Korea?

celebration time

So I’ve finished the coloring of “dance in the wild” and I gotta say I am quite contented with it. I love the complexity of the black and white version, but then, I also love the colorful version. I know most of you commented that you liked the black and white version better but I hope you’re changing your mind now because I’m giving three of it away to celebrate my birthday which would also be the opening of ‘littletiara shoppe’ on march 16th, printed on a A6 thick paper. So I guess it’s time to say YAY! :D

along with this print I will also include a notebook with the cover of your choice :) you can choose your favorite design to be the cover here in the littletiara shoppe. How good is that sound? Good enough? Here are some of them.

I’m ready, are you?

I’m so happy and relieved that you guys/girls like my artwork, honestly, this is my first time doing something like this, I mean, showing it off and then giving it away, and plan to sell it, sure I’ve joined like heaps of drawing competition but that was all, and not to mention that happened long long time ago, I already forgot how good it feels like when someone actually appreciates what you make. :)

And apparently tonight I found out that I’m not really meant to be with scissors, and lines, and some sort of those things, lol. however I’m pretty proud of what I’ve made :)

Fourteen (including covers) A6 sized artwork printed in a thick 260 gr ivory paper, each has different paintings on it, all handmade with the help of wacom bamboo, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe photoshop and Corel Painter.

I guess you noticed that I changed the design a little, the previous is just too messy, I guess. More so, I've always loved dash line, hehe...

Looking at them several times, I got an idea to make it an agenda instead of solely a calendar by putting some blank paper in between the months , what do you think about it? It’ll be more useful, I think.

And this experience also give me more ideas of what I possibly make next, maybe I should start make my artwork a postcard, that’ll be cute to send a friend with my very own personalized postcard, haha :D

Or maybe I should make some of them a downloadable wallpaper? I mean, for free of course! Guess it’s my narcissist side talking, wouldn’t it feel good to know lots of people use your artwork as their desktop background? I bet it almost feels like a singer hearing their own song on the radio.

I have heaps of creative idea running in my little head, and I can smell the dollars already (lol, what a materialistic girl…)

So I’m ready!

Happy Occasions

Welcome 2010 and happy birthday my dear littletiara blog! ;D

So I managed to get out of the bed and went to the most crowded place in Yogyakarta yesterday to celebrate the coming of this New year. Malioboro street that is. I believe it’s one of my most favorite spot in the city, too much memorable occasions happened there ;)

I can’t believe it’s been a year since the first time I posted something here, and believe it or not, ever since I started it, I’ve already stated how much of a daydreamer and romance sucker I am…

... Although there are lot of ways, I still can’t quite figure out about what kind of proposal would melt my heart, maybe because any kind of it would. Whether it is the super romantic one, with bunch of red roses and a ring, and him kneeling in front of me, or the childish one, when we play at the fun park in one of our dates and he out of the blue buys me an ice cream with a ring in it (I hope he wouldn’t use this one, other than quite usual, there is like hundred possibilities that i will just eat that ring up! Later on I would have to get a surgery because of it…)

Through blogging I found joy, friends, many of them, supports, shoulders to cry on, a place where I can rant as I wish, a place where I can be who I truly am.

So to celebrate this little escaping corner, I’ll have my very first own little giveaway (say YAY, please?). As you al may have noticed, I’ve been busying myself digging my creative side lately, and here’s the very first artwork I proudly give to you away, drumroll please?:

I won this scarf from Tina {Luphia loves…} months ago, and well… you know how many times I’ve complained about how lame Indonesian postal service is so… however, the scarf was finally arrived today!

It’s so lovely! black and white with hearts print. I’m sure I can use it to any kind of occasion, and since today I was having a dinner with my friends, I of course had to show it off! Haha! =d

And I was just amazed of how creative I can be when I’m using something I love, lol.
